Bearded Collie Cleric by Sheryl

This pen drawing pleases me exceptionally. Started during a car ride and continued later at home, this drawing has better composition and more detail than many pictures I can plan armed with a pencil and eraser. While working on it, I researched garden designs and alchemy symbols (the sun decorations on the robe's trim) to bring this Bearded Collie cleric to life.
Ink sketch on white paper. April 2008.

This is more ambitious than I usually see from you, and I like it. I especially like the experimentation of pen strokes for the background weeds and shrubbery, and the way the white of the robe stands out against them -- though I have to fight the urge to take a pen and scrawl on the monitor screen, to put just the hint of a shadow on his shoulder, just to break up the starkness of the white just a tiny bit. But then, I tend to noodle a picture to death sometimes. It's good, really good, and I'd like to see more like this.
